Welcome to the Mertin GM Business Office!

The role of the Business Office is to provide customers with information pertaining to the financial and insurance aspects of their vehicle acquisition.  This includes:

Advising our customers about the benefits of leasing versus financing a vehicle and helping them determine which method best suits their needs.

Obtaining the most favorable loan terms possible (since we process vehicle sales in large volumes and deal with all of the major lending institutions including General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC), we can obtain more favorable rates than most individuals).

Providing security for a customer’s substantial new investment, including anti-theft protection insurance, life and disability insurance to guarantee a vehicle loan, and extended service contracts to protect our customers from the potential of costly mechanical repair bills down the road.

Although the Business Office staff also has the nebulous task of asking for our customers’ money, they are far more than bill collectors!  Their training and professional expertise in the field of automotive finance qualify them to assist you with more than just the paperwork surrounding your vehicle acquisition.  Their role includes assisting you with the financial aspects of your purchase so that you may drive off the lot with confidence in not only your vehicle, but also in making your deal at Mertin GM.

Should I lease or finance a vehicle?

The answer to this question is: it depends.  This is a frustrating answer to hear, but a true one nevertheless.  Typically, the answer depends on your preferences and situation. One is simply not better than the other, just different. Our Business Managers can help you when deciding which option is right for you, but before you visit them, the most important things to consider are:

• Do you need a new vehicle every few years?
• Is having a new vehicle every few years, with few repair costs more important than long-term cost?
• Are monthly payments more important than owning a vehicle and having equity?

These are the most important questions you need to ask yourself before choosing to lease or finance a vehicle.  Don’t worry though.  We’re more than happy to answer your questions in person in greater detail.

What if your credit is less than perfect?

Many of our customers do not have perfect credit histories – and let’s face it, with numerous monthly bills and expenses it’s not unreasonable to have missed a few payments here and there.  This should not sacrifice your ability to obtain a new or pre-owned vehicle however.
In our Business Office the Finance Manager’s aggressively work to obtain credit approvals and loans for all of our customers. We believe you deserve the chance to drive away in a vehicle today.  After all, your past credit history, including bankruptcy, does not mean that you are not capable of making the payments on a vehicle and therefore are not deserving of one.  We understand this and can work with you to obtain a loan that will meet your financial needs but still let you enjoy your next vehicle.
